Audrey D. Blacklock, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Blacklock is a board certified ophthalmologist who joined Somers Eye Center in 2020 after practicing for many years in the Northland and Kansas City metro. She received her medical degree from Kansas University School of Medicine where she completed a combined M.D.-Ph.D. program for physicians with interests in clinical care of patients as well as research. Her Ph.D. work was in Physiology. She then completed an Internal Medicine internship with the University of Washington School of Medicine at the Boise, Idaho Veteran’s Administration Hospital. This was followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis. Dr. Blacklock provided eye care in Wichita and Hutchinson, Kansas, prior to returning to Kansas City.

Dr. Blacklock performs cataract surgery and some glaucoma procedures. She also performs comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses, as well as eye exams focused on a variety of eye diagnoses, including dry eye problems, ocular allergies, diabetes, retinal problems, glaucoma, iritis, and eye injuries.

Stephen P. Loughman, O.D.

Dr. Loughman is an optometrist joining Somers eye center in 2023 after practicing over 30 years in the Kansas City metro. He received his undergraduate degree from Benedictine College and optometric degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. He practiced for over 20 years providing care to residents of nursing homes in the Kansas City area.

Dr. Loughman performs comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses as well as exams focused on a variety of eye diseases including dry eyes, ocular allergies, diabetes, retinal diseases, glaucoma, iritis and eye injuries.

Dr. Loughman and his wife Barbara have been married for 36 years and are the parents of 9 children and 8 grandchildren.
